Fake Automatic Update message on startup and Firefox will not load any pages.

Recently, I've been having problems with Firefox, no pages will load, (all that comes up is Page not found). I uninstalled and reinstalled it but it still did not work. IE7 works perfectly. I even tried another version of Firefox (older version and newer version), none of which seems to work. Also, I have been having issues with a strange Automatic Update icon that shows up and asks me to restart my PC every time I log in (even though I've already restarted my PC multiple times.) This message is identical to the Genuine Microsoft update message except that the timer counting down until it the system automatically restarts is not present. These events have led me to believe that I have an infection on my PC.
