Hey dbai18 and welcome back!
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders. Do not run it yet. Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the Search for Updates button. Install any updates if they are available. Next click on the Check for Problems button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\WinSched.exe C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\WinTaskAd.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Stormer\SpywareStormer.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: Viewpoint Windows TaskAd Search(something...maybe Relevancy) Spyware Stormer <<<it’s rogueware and we highly recommend that you uninstall it. Rogue/Suspect means that these products are of unknown, questionable, or dubious value as anti-spyware protection. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000010-6F7D-442C-93E3-4A4827C2E4C8} - (no file) O2 - BHO: Search Relevancy - {1D7E3B41-23CE-469B-BE1B-A64B877923E1} - C:\PROGRA~1\SEARCH~1\SEARCH~1.DLL O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows TaskAd] C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\WinTaskAd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Spyware Stormer] C:\Program Files\Spyware Stormer\SpywareStormer.Exe O16 - DPF: {39B0684F-D7BF-4743-B050-FDC3F48F7E3B} (FilePlanet Download Control Class) - http://www.fileplanet.com/fpdlmgr/c...DC_1_0_0_44.cab O16 - DPF: {739E8D90-2F4C-43AD-A1B8-66C356FCEA35} (RunExeActiveX.RunExe) - hcp://system/RunExeActiveX.CAB Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\ C:\Program Files\Spyware Stormer\ C:\Program Files\Search.... C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\ Run Index.dat Suite now and go to Tools->Settings. Then make sure to check the following: Cookies, History, Recent Documents, Swap File (if you have Windows 95/98), Temporary Internet Files and Temp Files. Click Save at the bottom. Then click on the Find button. Let it search. Then click on the second button on the top. This will generate a batch file. Click Next and it will tell you that after the next reboot/restart the file should run by itself and clean out the temp folders. To make sure it's cleaned out, go into My Computer->C: Drive and double click on the run.bat file. After that you may delete that file if you want. Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean. To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section and use the tools provided.

Post a new thread in the XP forum with your specific error messages and I expect we can get to them.
You may wanna try a good registry cleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com Your log is clean. If you disabled System Restore, make sure to enable it now. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go. To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section and use the tools provided. ![]()

Yay.. something I've learnt can finally be passed on to somebody else.
I noticed in one of your logs you have the WinTaskAd.exe I've had the exact same one. It is malware, and it can be uninstalled from Add and Remove :) Glad i could help. |

CTSNKY:
hey, my bullseye network keeps returning, i keep repeating the steps that u told me to do, but it doesn't seem to be working. i'll post my hijacklog again. it is after i've used spybot & adaware. adaware detects it and gets rid of it, but it keeps returning everytime i restart my comp. everytime i run adaware, more and more of the files keep appearing, it's weird. i just ran it the other night, it had like 90 or so, then earlier today it was around 100, and i just ran it again, and it was at 140 malware files.anyways, here's my log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2 Scan saved at 11:18:01 PM, on 12/3/2004 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINNT\System32\smss.exe C:\WINNT\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINNT\system32\services.exe C:\WINNT\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINNT\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINNT\Explorer.EXE C:\WINNT\System32\SK9910DM.EXE C:\Program Files\Gateway Utilities\GWInkMonitor.exe C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\SYMANT~1\vptray.exe C:\Program Files\DIGStream\digstream.exe C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\program files\steam\steam.exe C:\WINNT\System32\ctfmon.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\SYMANT~1\DefWatch.exe C:\WINNT\system32\cba\pds.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\SYMANT~1\Rtvscan.exe C:\WINNT\System32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINNT\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\cba\xfr.exe C:\WINNT\system32\MsgSys.EXE C:\sysreset\mirc.exe C:\Program Files\mIRC\mirc.exe C:\WINNT\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R0 - Did you turn System Restore off?
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro. Make sure to select the Autoclean option. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\WINNT\system32\cba\pds.exe C:\WINNT\system32\cba\xfr.exe C:\sysreset\mirc.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: TSA Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Tsa2] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\tsm2.exe Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINNT\system32\cba\ C:\sysreset\ c:\program files\Common Files\tsa\ Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.
