W32 virus completely messing up my PC

Okay, Have got a W32 virus (Unfortunately not sure which one- as soon as I found it I deleted the file without taking the name).

This is whats happening. PC is sooooooooo slow, Nearly always running at 100% CPU, Sound has vanished from my log in yet on other peoples log in on this PC their sound is working okay, the blue bar at the bottom of the screen with my start button and program icon tray is supposed to be blue and smart looking but keeps reverting back to a nasty browny grey that I associate more with Windows 98 and not Xp (Which we have). I installed and ran Avast, it found the virus and destroyed it, i then had to install Mcaffee to destroy the exact same virus that had piggybacked when i downloaded avast (Cheeky bugger)! I also ran Spybot to erase a hell of a lot of spyware. The virus file has been deleted now but the symptoms are persisting. Its really annoying. I don't wanna lose my files- there are some I havent had chance to back up and are irreplacable! System restore wont work I know, but there must be something! Would reinstalling windows help?

So to recap- no sound, really slow, 100% CPU, old style task bar.

Virus: W32 (Full name unsure), it came with the Keygen of Photoshop CS3
