Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
Luckily I have not needed the support of this forum for almost 1 year--but my computer is slow again, as Malware was detected last week and picked up by Adaware. I am enclosing a log file from Hijack this. I also ran a Panda Scan the other day and it came back totally cleam, as well as a Kaspersky scan which also came back clean. I am hopeful that someone can assist tonight. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Re: Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
Hi skaden,
![]() I'm not seeing anything overt here. Open notepad and copy/paste the entire text in the code box below: (don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4) Code:
REGEDIT4 Registry:: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa] "Notification Packages"=hex(7):73,63,65,63,6c,69,00,00 It should look like this: ![]() Double click on the fix.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Any improvement after the registry fix I just gave you? If not, can you tell me what Ad Aware detected? |

Re: Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
I will do a restart as the computer is still slow. Adaware detected win32.backdoor. I can get to sites on the internet, but I have to double click many, many times. It seems like I have to continually delete cookies and then it goes faster. Any other suggestions?

Re: Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
Yes--just the internet that is slow. I cannot read the Adaware log that indicates the bacdoor. It came up as a 10 rating malware. I removed the malware and it shows up on the statistics. When I type in something in the search bar, I have to try at least 3 or 4 times--and double click repeadetly. Any other suggestions? Even when I attempt to reply to this email on the forum it takes a very long time--which it never did before being infected last week. I look forward to your response.

Re: Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
It would really be helpful to see the actual file or registry key Ad Aware found. Without it, I'm working 'blind' here.
I generally don't care to 'throw' tools at a system, but with nothing else to go on, let's see if this tool will reveal anything for us: Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

Re: Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
Those are likely remnants. Is there any improvement in your system after running that tool?

Re: Malware detected--please help as computer is slow
A little better, but still experiencing similar problems. I cahnged the abtteries in my wireless mouse, as I seem to always have to double and triple click on a web search. Also, it just seems that it takes 3 to 10 secons longer to open a web page than previoulsy. Any other suggestions? Also, when I try to open some web pages, I get the message cannot open the page.
