Serious Problems! Please Help!
the following is a message which I posted in the incorrect place--so I've started a new thread here. Since I originally posted the message, I have gone through the five steps. I was unable to proceed with any of them for the following reasons--when I tried to run the Panda scan, my browser kept shutting down. And with the other steps--I cannot access my desktop to install and run downloads. My desktop seems to have disappeared! browser and tool bar continually reloading, affecting my ability to write in this dialogue box. This is the original message I sent--"I opened a file that I downloaded last night and instantly got a popup that stated that a Browser Help Object spy ware was attempting to install itself. The box asked if I wanted to stop this and I clicked yes. As soon as I did, the box popped up again, and then everything on the desktop started to disappear. I turned off the computer and then started it again. I got to the desktop, and managed to hit my Mozilla tab before the whole desktop disappeared again. I don't know how I'm even using Mozilla!
Now there is a new pop up which says its a Windows Security Center system Warning. It states in a box called Alert details File: sau.exe Threat 180Solutions. I haven't clicked on it for fear of doing even more damage. If you can help me at all, could you be as proscriptive in your advice and instructions as possible, as I am only a new computer user, and therefore hopelessly useless! I notice that you ask members to retrieve a log--but I wouldn't know how to do this even. Any help would me much appreciated Tezrh tezrh is online now Report Post Digg this Post!Add Post to del.icio.usBookmark Post in TechnoratiFurl this Post!Bookmark on Thread SoupReddit! Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
Hello and welcome to TSF.
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and remove WebHancer WebHancer Survey Companion, if present ====================================== Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop. Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive% (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:SDFix) Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Next, please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running Combofix: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first. The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time. Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says: The Recovery Console was successfully installed. Please continue as follows:
Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system: Report.txt C:\ComboFix.txt New HijackThis log. |

Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
Hi, thanks so much for replying, I know you guys are really busy. I tried to get to control panel then add/remove programs last night and couldn't--the start icon only comes up for about 10 seconds, and when i click any of the icons, it freezes. Also, I can't connect to the web at all now, so I can't download anything. And finally, I tried starting in safe mode last night as well, and was able to get in, but once there the desktop icons only appeared for a short time before the whole screen went blank--THIS THING IS KILLIN ME--HELP!!!

Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
If you are able to boot into Safe Mode, try removing WebHancer in Safe Mode. Reboot and see if you can connect to internet. If unsuccessful, can you download the required tools onto a removable medium and transfer them to the desktop of the troubled computer?

Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
Hi, I just tried to get into the control panel again--in both safe and normal modes, and was unsuccessful. in safe mode the icons come up for about 2 seconds and then disappear. In normal mode i can hit the control panel tab, but the desktop freezes, then the control panel box comes up for a split second before the whole desktop seems to reload, killing it. I then tried downloading the SDfix onto an external hard drive and loading it onto the desktop, but my computer will not even recognize the hard drive. Is there anything I can do?

Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
Was just in the process of trying both of those options. Neither work! The CD will not open automatically, and I can't get into My Computer to open either the CD or the TD. If I can't get onto the computer by using an external device, and I can't download via the web, am I completely stuffed?!

Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
No, I tried it last night and again this morning, and a window comes up saying that it has been disabled by my administrator. Sorry to be such a pain in the backside! I'm really grateful for the time you're taking.

Re: Serious Problems! Please Help!
I just tried it and it comes up, so I clicked on the tab and got the explorer box to come up, but as soon as that happens, its like the desk top reloads, so that I lose any boxes that I open.
