Combofix doesn't require safe mode. It's run in normal mode.
Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop. Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 **Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop** -------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Close any open browsers. 2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall |

This is the hijackthis log after SDFix finished. I can get to the desktop now--although it's all black, it is stable and the icons are not flashing multicoloured! A window popped up saying that I have chosen to open Windows XP Home BootDisk-ENU.exe. I saved it to my desktop untill I know where I should put it. Underneath the Hijackthis log I'm putting the log page which was generated after SDFix completed.
Thanks for getting me to this point. I'll wait to hear what you suggest I do next. I'm not online tomorrow because I'm at work all day. But will be around Friday--Friday in Australia anyway.
