Says I have rootkit?

When I started my computer avast said it found a rootkit. It asked for me to delete it, so I did. It said to run full scan, so I did (took a very long time...I guess it is supposed to?)

I restarted computer and it said same thing. I tried a remover I found, and it said there was no rootkit to be found.

Next day restarted, and no warning..(so I said phew!)

.....but tonight when I started same avast warning again!

I get this as the message as to where it is (being the 'rootkit', which I assume is a virus?)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ATWPKT2.SYS

So when I googled that it showed me that some other person here has that same one, but there were no answers on post to see what to do...

Oh, sorry if I am not supposed to write about same thing as someone else, but I couldn't add to his post to say "Me too, help!!!"

So, um, help? I am not sure where to go from here....and as the other person said I did try to do a restore, but it said that point was not valid and couldn't do it.

That is pretty much all I know how to do. The other post has a very long list of things, not sure if I am supposed to put that, but I don't know how to.

Thanks.

Re: Says I have rootkit?

Oh, and I tried to run the panda scan...even though it says it will take an hour, it takes about 15 seconds and says I have no virus...

I tried to install that spywareblaster thing, but is gives me an error that some file exists and it can't ovewrite it..."deletefile failed code 5"
and is at this line windows/system32/msniet.ocx

It says I can ignore but it isn't reccomended, so I had to abort...

wasn't sure then if I shoud try the next one (IE spyad)

Re: Says I have rootkit?

I was just wondering if I posted in the wrong place since I didn't get an answer. Could someone tell me what part I should post it? Thanks.
