Can't run hijackthis, freezes
Hi. Found some odd things. Ran Panda activescan & found a Downloader.qf trojan. Have two loadpowerprofile showing in msconfig start menu items. IE was blocking some sites as restricted & I hadn't done that which is what got my attention. Anyway, I've run CWShredder & its clean. I've run Spybot and cleaned up what it found. Downloaded hijackthis & it gets to a certain point on scan & freezes. "015 trusted zone enumeration...
Anyone have any ideas? ![]() Right after I posted the Hijackthis completed without freezing, so I'm posting the log. HI and welcome to TSF!
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1 O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3EFC1A0F-9E4D-2FB8-8751-6C550DD72D47} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\EYTRMEC.DLL O16 - DPF: {E7DBFB6C-113A-47CF-B278-F5C6AF4DE1BD} - http://download.abacast.com/downloa...abasetup145.cab O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} (MediaTicketsInstaller Control) - http://www.35mb.com/applet.cab Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\EYTRMEC.DLL Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

HI again,
Log looks clean, but appears that you ran this while in Safe Mode. If so, please run one in Normal Mode and re-post, so we can be certain you're clean! ![]()

Thought I had rebooted to normal. Getting ready for Trick or Treat, so was in a hurry. Back now, loaded with candy.

Greetings,
\ What happens is, we delte some code, and part of the job of that code was hiding some bad files. We'll go after one, now, and that is no guarantee that there isn't another baddie "under" that one. Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LXARAP32.EXE Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Win32SL] c:\dmi\win32\bin\Win32sl.exe -i -p -r O16 - DPF: {F54C1137-5E34-4B95-95A5-BA56D4D8D743} (Secure Delivery) - http://www.gamespot.com/KDX22/download/kdx.cab O16 - DPF: {FA3662C3-B8E8-11D6-A667-0010B556D978} (IWinAmpActiveX Class) - http://cdn.digitalcity.com/_media/dalaillama/ampx.cab O16 - DPF: {62475759-9E84-458E-A1AB-5D2C442ADFDE} - http://a1540.g.akamai.net/7/1540/52...meInstaller.exe Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LXARAP32.EXE Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean. |

Fixed per instructions. However was not able to reboot to normal, so had to restore.
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Win32SL] c:\dmi\win32\bin\Win32sl.exe -i -p -r I think this goes with Compaq web DMI, which is probably not a necessity?
