Which Antivirus software would you recommend?
My fiance subscribed to a Norton Antivirus service a couple of years ago, paid up front for a year and the service was withdrawn after two months, with no refund. I'm not sure of the exact details, but my point is that she hasn't got any antivirus protection on either of her computers!!
Now, I've been directed to both the Trend Micro and Pandasoftware sites by the security experts here, and I'd imagine there are many other similar places that offer both a free online scan, as well as full, paid-for, antirus protection. And I'm sure opinions differ on which is the best lol. Having just been helped by people here to clean up both computers, I'm now going to spend some money on antivirus software in order to help keep them clean. Any recommendations ![]() |

I am a believer in Norton. I recommend Norton Internet Security 2005. It offers add block, awesome virus protection for both incoming and outgoing email, excel files, etc., SPAM filtering, and even has some Parental controls. Others that I spoke to have had minimal if any issues since they have installed one of Symatec's packages. Auto update of virus definitions makes updates easy.

Other antivirus programs are:
PC-Cillin Internet Security (I have it on a computer and think it's a good security suite). F-Prot Antivirus, which runs quitely in the background and has less bloat than most antivirus program. I like this one because it doesn't interfere with games. Zone Alarm Security Suite is a new entry by a company that has a good software firewall. I've only had experience with their firewall (I use it) and PC Magazine reviewed the software. Those are just a few of the major antivirus companies today. AVG by Grisoft has a free antivirus program, but they are ending support (no updates) of the free version at the end of this year. |

Nortons are at the very very very bottom of the heap probably the best two antivirus software on the market at present are both free and they work extremy well. Avast is one and the other is AVG who still have a new free version I think it is version 7 (it is there current version 6 that they are not supporting next year).

I definitely have to say AVG. It caught trojans that Norton didn't catch when I told my friend to get it. It's free for personal use.

That's ok. You may use that also.
I advise NOT to get both. You should never have two antivirus programs running at the same time. Problems will arise, so use one or the other, but not both.
