I wasn't sure where to post this, but this looked like the right forum to do so (and if it's not, i'm sorry)
I have already had many problems with my computer freezing constantly (including a reboot from hibernation problem that I finally resolved magically somehow.. it was posted early last week) so this is another attempt to find what the possible problem is with this computer: Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.0 Scan saved at 4:23:19 PM, on 10/26/2004 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\cisvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\snmp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\MsPMSPSv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Center\SymWSC.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\hphmon05.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\carpserv.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\One-Touch\OneTouch.EXE C:\Documents and Settings\Bryan Powell\My Documents\Disk stuff\hjt\HijackThis.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe R0 - Hi and Welcome to TSF
Please update your version of hijackthis before doing the fix as you have an outdated version. Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run ad-aware SE, Spybot Search & Destroy (with updated database) and CWShredder as these programs will clean a lot of the crap out first. All links to programs are in my signature. Ok..on to the log….. Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Open add/remove progams and remove Wildtanget and Incrediafind if listed. WildTangent - This is an online gaming package that is installed by a number of third party applications and even OEMs, ISPs , AIM and P2P. It collects personal information from customers when they buy one of their products (such as name, contact information and payment and billing information and system info) and sents that info back to wildtangent. Most security experts regard this as spyware. If you installed this and want to keep be aware of this. If you didn’t install this…remove it through add/remove programs. Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry) R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://minisearch.startnow.com/ R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.startnow.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://minisearch.startnow.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://minisearch.startnow.com/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://minisearch.startnow.com/ R3 - URLSearchHook: IncrediFindBHO Class - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL O1 - Hosts: 64.12.152.18 search.netscape.com O1 - Hosts: 64.12.152.18 search.netscape.com O2 - BHO: F1 Organizer Class - {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ATPART~1.DLL (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file) O2 - BHO: NavErrRedir Class - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SAHBundle] C:\DOCUME~1\BRYANP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\bundle.exe O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file) O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://public.windupdates.com/get_fi...9789aa263f2849 a0229a08af96fd72d10ca1aae468be547cb699c9430be16bb8 7e1e447ccc55e53232be93b8ba26fb:f4c2d3165f27146e702 381e2ad201fe0 O16 - DPF: {2FC9A21E-2069-4E47-8235-36318989DB13} (PPSDKActiveXScanner.MainScreen) - http://www.pestscan.com/scanner/axscanner.cab Delete the following Files/Folders in RED (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (If you can't find them...do a search for them) C:\WINDOWS\system32\ATPART~1.DLL C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL C:\DOCUME~1\BRYANP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\bundle.exe C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll Empty your Temp Folders... In safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder. Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder. Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK. Once done reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file to confirm what was removed and if it's clean or not. Once your clean you can enable system restore again
