Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders. Do not run it yet. Download StartCHM and run it. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: FreeServe MyWebSearch Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:NavigationFailure R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:NavigationFailure R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:NavigationFailure R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:NavigationFailure R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:NavigationFailure R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:NavigationFailure R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://vv3.s13.topx.cc/open_console_out.php?n=6&pin=4 O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5F28634C-813B-4C77-A806-904D0AD7AE93} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\oegggaa.dll O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {07B18EA9-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: Freeserve - {8B68564D-53FD-4293-B80C-993A9F3988EE} - C:\PROGRA~1\FREESE~1\FSBar\FSBar.dll O4 - Global Startup: MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk = C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\MWSOEMON.EXE O16 - DPF: {11010101-1001-1111-1000-110112345678} - ms-its:mhtml:file://C: oo.mht!http://cellaphone.net/helps/079057/iehelp.chm::/win.exe O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111111113457} - file://c:\explorer.cab O16 - DPF: {FFFF0003-0001-101A-A3C9-08002B23E0CC} - http://direct.data-line.us/gba828.exe O18 - Filter: text/html - {4A2EA030-BD3B-42E3-9F54-E4D3123BC869} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\oegggaa.dll O18 - Filter: text/plain - {4A2EA030-BD3B-42E3-9F54-E4D3123BC869} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\oegggaa.dll Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\System32\oegggaa.dll C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\ C:\Program Files\FreeServe\ C:\oo.mht!http://cellaphone.net/helps/079057/iehelp.chm Run Index.dat Suite now and go to Tools->Settings. Then make sure to check the following: Cookies, History, Recent Documents, Swap File (if you have Windows 95/98), Temporary Internet Files and Temp Files. Click Save at the bottom. Then click on the Find button. Let it search. Then click on the second button on the top. This will generate a batch file. Click Next->Next->Next and it will tell you that after the next reboot/restart you the file should run by itself and startup and clean all those files. Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.
