Re: Computer infected, please help!
Hi Katana,
I have a quick question. I updated my IE to the 7.0 version. But everytime I get on the internet, it defaults to an IE file on my hard drive. When I select Tools > Internet Options, it shows http://www.yahoo.com as my home page, but that is not what comes up when I log on the internet. Is there somewhere else that stores this info that I need to change? It didn't do this til I upgraded. Any suggestions? ![]() Thanks! Caryn |

Sorry about that, it is a bug that has just appeared.
Create A Registry File Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it Regfix.reg Please save it on your desktop. Quote:
Double click on Regfix.reg and click Yes at the prompt

Re: Computer infected, please help!
Hi Katana,
Oh, thank you! It worked! That was the only "funny" I noticed. Is it okay to delete the regfix.reg file now that it's fixed? Thank you again for your help! I wish I had your knowledge of computers! LOL! Thanks for being a life saver! Caryn |

Re: Computer infected, please help!
Hi Katana,
I just had something weird happen to my computer and want to make sure it's not infected again. Here's what happened.... My son wanted to go online and told me he couldn't find the "e" on the task bar at the botton of the screen. I clicked the ">>" to see if it was there, but it was gone. Then the mouse pointer highlighted an icon and an alt tag popped up with chinese writing and there was something chinese in the program list. I deleted both, ran the kaspersky and restarted the computer but the "e" is still missing from the task bar and I still have 2 IE icons on the desktop. I attached a HijackThis log. Can you tell me if I got infected again or if something different may have happened. I don't know how to fix this and I am very nervous since I have logged into my bank and PayPal accounts and many others that can hurt if my info got into the wrong hands. ![]() Can you PLEASE help me again! I'd really appreciate it! ![]() Thanks! Re: Computer infected, please help!
Hi Caryn
![]() There is nothing showing in your HJT log. Did you do an online scan at all ? For the IE icon, drag one of the icons on your desktop down to the taskbar where it used to be.
