OS: Windows 98 & Windows XP Home/Pro

My System

Welcome to TSF.

You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Click here to get the latest version of HijackThis.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Download WinsockFix. Don't run it yet. If you can't go online after doing the following fixes (after a restart when you finish deleting files), then unzip it and run WinsockFix.

Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

New.Net or NewDotNet
MySearch

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll - {E7D2BB86-00A9-4F86-8D6E-205F5390BE17} - C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Trickler] "c:\documents and settings\brian r\lokale indstillinger\temp\fsg_4203.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CMESys] "C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\CMEII\CMESys.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [My Search Bar Installer] "C:\Programmer\MySearch\bar\S4SETP.EXE" /r
O15 - Trusted Zone: www.bajasexo.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: www.impresionesweb.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: ftp.kaspersky.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: download.mcafee.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.tooto.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: www.tuneup.de
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.tv2.dk
O15 - Trusted Zone: www.warezdown.com

Do you know what the following is for? If not, fix it also:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LManager] C:\PROGRA~1\LAUNCH~1\CPLFL32.EXE

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\PROGRA~1\LAUNCH~1\ - only delete if you fixed it (see above)
C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll
C:\Programmer\MySearch\
C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\
c:\documents and settings\brian r\lokale indstillinger\temp\ - delete everything in this folder
C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\C

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section and use the tools provided.

OS: Windows 98 & Windows XP Home/Pro

My System

Are you sure there's no folder for NewDotNet in the Program Files Folder? Make sure to enable hidden files and folders. But if you still can't find it, then I assume it is gone.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders. Do not run it yet.

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\Programmer\DVD Ghost\DVDGhost.EXE

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

New.Net or NewDotNet
MySearch

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LaunchApp] Alaunch
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LManager] C:\PROGRA~1\LAUNCH~1\CPLFL32.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Trickler] "c:\documents and settings\brian r\lokale indstillinger\temp\fsg_4203.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CMESys] "C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\CMEII\CMESys.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.DLL,NewDotNetStartup -s
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [My Search Bar Installer] "C:\Programmer\MySearch\bar\S4SETP.EXE" /r

I never heard of this program before. If you didn't install it, then fix it in HijackThis:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DVDXGhost] C:\Programmer\DVD Ghost\DVDGhost.EXE

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\Programmer\DVD Ghost\ - only delete if you fixed it (see above)
c:\documents and settings\brian r\lokale indstillinger\temp\ - delete all the files in the folder
C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\CMEII\
C:\PROGRAM Files\NewDotNet\
C:\Programmer\MySearch\

Run Index.dat Suite now and go to Tools->Settings. Then make sure to check the following: Cookies, History, Recent Documents, Swap File (if you have Windows 95/98), Temporary Internet Files and Temp Files. Click Save at the bottom. Then click on the Find button. Let it search. Then click on the second button on the top. This will generate a batch file. Click Next->Next->Next and it will tell you that after the next reboot/restart you the file should run by itself and startup and clean all those files.

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section and use the tools provided.

Any problems now?

My System

Depending on how many programs you have running, that probably is normal. If you want, you may disable the programs you don't need at startup using msconfig. Some of them include: HP programs, Nero, and MSN.
