Need advice!
Hello! Need help! My brother messed up my computer. What should I do?
I have tried Ad-ware and still the PC isnt working well . Any sugestions?

Hi Misty

You are running Hijack This from a temporary directory. It needs to be in a permanent folder. Please go into Windows Explorer, click on C:\ then click on File > New > Folder and call it HJK, or another name of your choice. The program creates backup files that we may need to use later and if the program is in a Temporary folder they may be deleted by yourself or if your system is set to empty temp files automatically.

I notice that you are using an outdated version of Hijack This. Please get the latest version here or use the link in my signature, click and download the program.

You say you have run adaware. Is it the latest version with the VX2 plugin?
If not, then please download Adaware SE and install it. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. Also make sure to customize the settings in Adaware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Reboot your system.

Run an online scan at Trend Micro.
Please select the “autoclean” option when prompted to do so.

Please post a fresh Hijack This log so that we can check if your system is clean.

My System

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up).

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\setup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\systime.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd\
C:\Documents and Settings\Zeka&Rome0\Application Data\dmc??.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\qdvd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\iEBINST2.dll
C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\NAUPOI~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\questmod.dll

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.
