Hello, I was referred to this forum by a friend on another message board. Something nasty crawled in and pooped all over my puter. I've already run Adaware, Spybot S&D, and Norton, and they've all found and deleted some stuff, but there's some they coudln't find, and some they couldn't delete. Greetings!

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box where it says “Turn off System Restore”. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it’s clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Then, open Hijack this and click the “config” button in the “other stuff” area. Then, click “misc tools”, then “open process manager”. Please “kill” the following processes (you must kill them one at a time):

bcqkgs.exe
wo.exe
Tvm.exe

Make sure to close any open browsers you have. Check and fix the following in HijackThis (make sure not to miss any):

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Delete the following Files/Folders , which I have put in bold type, according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\PROGRA~1\Web Offer\wo.exe
C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

Then please reboot back into normal mode and go here
and run the online virus scan. Please select the Autoclean option when prompted.

Then please reboot once more and post a new log.

I've run into a problem, though...


I turned off system restore, restarted, changed the folder options to show hidden files and folders and system files and folders, then went into the Hijack This process manager...


I killed bcqkgs.exe and wo.exe, but tvm.exe wasn't on the list.

I'm now posting from a different computer - I didn't want to proceed or do anything else on my computer until I find out what to do about this.

Cyntia_73, please create a new thread and post your log file there. Your log will not be answered in someone else's log file. This is to avoid any confusion.

aimtastic, do the following:

Make sure to update Windows and Internet Explorer at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders.

Run Index.dat Suite and go to Tools->Settings. Then make sure to check the following: Cookies, History, Recent Documents, Swap File (if you have Windows 95/98), Temporary Internet Files and Temp Files. Click Save at the bottom. Then click on the Find button. Let it search. Then click on the second button on the top. This will generate a batch file. Click Next->Next->Next and it will tell you that after the next reboot/restart you the file should run by itself and startup and clean all those files.

Restart. Any problems now?
