Thumbs Down [SOLVED] avast

I wanted to see what avast was up to with their latest.... Pretty disapointing i should say..... To receive a licence key you need to register give them an email blah blah... understandable.... Then you see everything is different and called simple. An 8 year old kids toy interface.... Nuclear signs and many other stupid signs icons all over.. ok.... then scanning the system..... detects Panda active scan and Panda active scan pro files as viruses ! nuclear hazard signs warnings flying all over the place... It is like a state trooper shoots a city cop because he is carrying a gun....

This software is simply a JOKE. I dont think this joke should be recommended...

With all due respect, Avast is far better tool used in the right way, besides if you try running Panda or any other antivirus software on a system with another Antivirus aplication already running you may get the same results, not only with Avast does this happen.

If you read our steps prior to run Panda or the other online antivirus solutions you may see that we request to disable temporarily the resident antivirus in order to avoid conflicts.

I am not sure how knowledable you are but the panda active scan and panda active scan pro both are online scanning tools and " NONE " of these have known to have conflicts with any other security tools unless the software company really is out of it like avast or mcafee. It is not a running two antivirus softwares at the same time situation. Did you know mcafees many versions detected hijackthis as a virus ? ? As a hjt trainee you wouldnt like that would you ? with all due respect i should say you were unsure of what you said.

PS - I have to agree with you - to a certain extent.

I've just downloaded and installed it (I use AVG) and the interface is very like Winamp, and, as you say, rather childlike. I also found it a bit confusing, but perhaps that's just because I'm used to AVG.

In defence of the Security Team's recommendation of AVAST, we usually offer users a choice of several AV's for immediate download and installation. All offered are free and therefore I take the view that some protection is better than none in the short term.

I am disappointed in AVAST but perhaps regular usage would persuade me otherwise. Perhaps we are seeing the demise of the free AV and soon we will all have to pay if we want protection? Just a thought.

:) Oh I dont have any problems with paying for my software. Those people who develop those tools put their labor and time in it. And they sure deserve to profit from it. Thats what it is sopposed to be anyway. Those people pay for everything they need. No one gives those free to them. So why should we be upset when we have to pay for what we use ? No need. :D

I used Avast for a while and was extremely disappointed with it, it has so many good reviews. It would just let viruses slip by. Then I got a free subscription to Computer Associates EzAntivirus. It's the best I've used, although AVG ranks beside it. I had used AVG for a while and loved it.

I do use Avast, so far I haven't got any infections, I've been hinking on getting Panda or Kas, but I have no complains with Avast yet I had a terrible experience with AVG, I had to reinstall and I lost a lot of stuff.
