Winpatrol sets off a chain of error messages every other minute

Hi :-)

Just had to dive in and ask about this, as'll need a straight-jacket if these Winpatrol errors don't stop!

Changed the 2-minute setting to 15-minute ... no change. Can't see where to change frequency and type of alerts. Every 2 minutes an alert comes up saying my home page (it's google, but is reported in this error as being microsoft.com) is being changed to msn.com. At same time a NoAdware error message comes up, plus Arovax errors, and another two messages from Spybot, both of which say a change has been made to registry, even though I've denied all the changes in each error message. Don't want to remove Winpatrol if possible, as seems often reviewed as good programme.

(Running Avast, ZoneAlarm, Adaware SE, Spywareblaster, Bazooka, CWShredder, Spywareguard, Spybot. Yesterday full format and reinstall needed, as was sick of things seizing up/errors with Spyware Doctor. Tried Spyware Doctor again, won't run at all now, so installed a number of programmes not used before ... Firefox, Thunderbird, NoAdware, Arovax, and Winpatrol are all new to me. And Spy Watcher just installed.)

Just to ask if anyone can tell me what to do about these errors.
Thanks, dandelion

also a scan shows W32/Dloadr in Hosts but Hosts is empty, and Alexa ... help!

Used Free Spyware Scanner and it's brought up that W32/Dloadr in Hosts file, but Hosts file is empty, just a small black square ... and Alexa is in c:\WINDOWS\WEB\RELATED.HTM...

Don't know what to do, as understand can't delete the Hosts file? so have left both where they are for now. Am thinking these errors are what were causing the others Winpatrol errors, which have stopped now? Don't understand Hosts, except that redirects stuff. Don't know which program best to protect it, or whether okay to delete both these infected files. How do I get rid of the infections but not the files, if these are needed files?

thanks, dandelion
