Hello all. My first post here, it's about a problem I have with my work computer, which I would like to sort myself instead of alerting the systems administrater.......
Basically, I noticed that it seems to be loading something every minute or so (the hourglass appears next to the pointer arrow) which lasts for a couple of seconds. I am running Windows XP. I did a Ctrl+Alt+Del and looked at the processes running. Every minute when this loading happened, both NetALoader.exe & flc.exe both seemed gain more usage for a second or two. I located these files, and both sit in the System32 folder, both created on the same date and time, with Archive.dll also created the same date & time. I tried ending the process of these and deleting them but about 20 minutes later they seem to reappear and start running again. flc.exe has no version information or anything, but NetALoader.exe is apparently provided by Surfcontrol. Is one of these files acting as a way to stop the other running or something? Tommorrow I'm going to try running various anti-spy programs. Anyway, sorry about the long post, but I really want to get this sorted, so does anybody have any ideas? Thanks very much Mark

Try running a scan at Panda Active Scan
Then download, update and run AdAware SE Choose to check for updates and then run the scan and choose to fix whatever it finds. (Put checks in the boxes). AdAware tutorial Download, update and run Spybot Search & Destroy Update, scan, make sure anything in red is checked and choose fix problems Tutorial from Coyote site Get and run Ewido Security Suite Install ewido security suite. When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck.. *Install background guard *Install scan via context menu Launch Ewido, there should now be an icon on your desktop, double-click it. The program will now open to the main screen. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files: On the left hand side of the main screen click update. Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful") If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido: Ewido manual updates Once the updates are installed, do the following: Click on scanner. Click on Complete System Scan, the scan will now begin. While the scan is in progress you will be promted to clean files, click OK. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections", then choose clean and click OK. Empty the Recycle Bin and reboot. See how it works now, all the above should clean up most infections you may have. |
