HELP - windows won't start
here's what happened. this is actually on one of my coworker's computers.
we start up the computer this morning and NAV keeps popping up that it's detected a virus and that it's gonna quarantine it c:\windows\system32\anti_troj.exe. we keep clicking "OK" and, after several times of the same NAV alert windows popping up, we're back to normal. but it hasn't deleted the virus and this same NAV alert window keeps popping up once in a while, but doesn't seem to be affecting the overall effectiveness of the pc. anyways, i wanted to try to delete it and since it kept saying access is denied to it i wanted to reboot in safe mode and delete it that way. and i think here's where the whole problem comes in. i decided to reboot in safe mode using the MSCONFIG file. the computer gets a black screen while trying to reboot, right after detecting the drives and everything, where windows would normally try to start booting, and it stays at tha. i've tried restarting it and letting it go again and the same thing happens. and i've tried restarting and hitting F8 and selecting start normally, and any other option i can see there, and the screen still goes black. it starts showing the now loading windows screen and screen goes black about a second after that screen comes on. what can i do? also, i did notice yesterday on that computer that something new started popping up. it looks as if the computer tries to star automatically downloading some sort of files. it doesn't actually download them, but a few IE download windows have popped up. with files names such as b.php or something like that. but we always just clicked cancel, so nothing was downloaded. |
