[SOLVED] Norton Removal

I got an extra computer from my neighbor. They deleted alot of the software but didn't do it correctly. It seems Norton was/is still on the computer but I cannot access it. I have gone to add/remove and do not see it. How can I locate it to take it off?

Re: Norton Removal

Hi

Try revo uninstaller and see if it comes up on there. Or use the hunter mode to get rid of it.

Re: Norton Removal

If you are removing Norton, make sure you replace it with a new security suite.
Heres mine:
Comodo:Firewall
Avast: Antivirus
Spybot: Spyware

Re: Norton Removal

Always use the Norton Removal Tool to complete a Norton uninstall.

1. Download this file:

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Save the file to the Windows desktop.

2. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions. Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.

Re: Norton Removal

I hit the removal link. It went to 99% and froze. Suggestions? I had the same problem when I was installing an extra printer and didn't think twice until now. It went to 99% and stopped.

Re: Norton Removal

How long did you wait? Did you just close it when it froze? It it freezes I'd give it some time.

Was this just trying to download it? Or while executing the file?

Re: Norton Removal

Glad to help. What was the problem with the freezing? Downloading the file? Or executing it?

Re: Norton Removal

It was the downloading. In the past, when I shut down, I would also get a box where I would have to manually stop something,I forget what, before the computer would shut down. No problem anymore. I was just in the Tetons for the first time 2 months ago. One of the greatest places on earth!

Re: Norton Removal

Thanks for letting us know.

And....I couldn't agree more. I spent 20 excellent years among the Tetons. Without a doubt, one of the greatest places on Earth.
