Trend Micro Blocks Email Attachment
When I send emails with attachments larger than 5MB, the email appears to send but the email never gets to the destination.
I'm using Windows XP SP3 and OutLook 2002 SP3 and TrendMicro Internet Security 2009. At first I thought it was Outlook or my ISP EarthLink. After many hours of testing: Under Trend Micro's Virus & Spyware Controls/Threats on Outgoing Mail/Advanced Settings there is a box "Save time, do not scan messages larger than." If this box is set to 5MB, your email will be lost without any message or warning. p.s. TrendMicro chat help sucks. Wasted time doing meaningless talk with two non-interested robots. |

Re: Trend Micro Blocks Email Attachment
If Trend is limiting you attachments to 5MB, there is nothing we can do about it.
What are you trying to send? BG |

Re: Trend Micro Blocks Email Attachment
Basementgeek, please let me explain again. The "Save time, do not scan messages larger than...." box has to do with scanning or not scannning, not whether to keep the mail from sending correctly.
1. It should have nothing to do with inhibiting the sending of the attachment. 2. As a matter of fact, if you set it to 1MB, it WILL allow the sending of the 8MB attachment. 3. In any event, TM should give a warning or message before blocking a send. Nothing is reported. As a matter of fact the sender doesn't realize this has happened and thinks his mail was sent. Please explain why an 8MB file works if you set it to 1MB and fails if you set the box to 5MB. |

Re: Trend Micro Blocks Email Attachment
I'm not expecting anyone to do something about it. Just letting people know:
Problem: Losing emails with attachments. No messages or warnings. Solution: If you're using Trend Micro, under Trend Micro's Virus & Spyware Controls/Threats on Outgoing Mail/Advanced Settings there is a box "Save time, do not scan messages larger than." Find the box and set it to 1MB. This should solve the problem. |
