hello, I'm writing in hope that someone can help me . i have an IBM Think center and the other day i tried downloading a game ("Poker Stars") onto my computer .... BIG mistake. iv had nothing but trouble with it, the day i downloaded it i had a notice appear on my computer saying that the program was not installed properly and that this may cause a problem in future. ignoring this i continued playing, 2 days ago i was hit with a malware virus and 2 unknown foreign programs that had some how been installed onto my computer i got rid of 1 of the programs and the malware and now i am stuck with one program that i can not get rid of .... named "Security Tool". this program is blocking all .EXE files from being opened (meaning i cant download anything to delete the program) and i popping up all the time saying things like "the program you have opened is causing you computer to be under threat, please download the latest version of "security tool" to stop this from happening" i have Avira (antivir desktop) which is saying "security tool is using a worm to access your internet and steal you password and credit card numbers and any other personal information please address this for your own safety" .... i know this all sound weird but its true ... so please help me iv tried everything i can ... if you have any information please contact me via email : Removed. Re: Please help... Urgent!!

It sounds like you need help with cleaning out malware, please follow the instructions here, and post the logs in a new thread in the malware removal section.

NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help

After running through all the steps, please post the requested logs in the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum, not here.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply.

Re: Please help... Urgent!!

If you are having problems running exe files you can try this:

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Save the contents of exehelperlog.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com, and should open at the end of the scan)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before saving a log - and save the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).
