Problem with avg 9.0

Hi. I downloaded avg 9 as did my friend since which time our laptops have gone on major go-slow. So I have now removed it and deleted all the files I could find apart from one

'avgrsstx.dll.install_backup' which was in the WIN32 folder

It will not allow me to delete it

Do I need to delete it and if so How?

I am not a techie in any way so help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Re: Problem with avg 9.0

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

Run the AVG removal tool,here

http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools

I think you mean this file?

c:\windows\system32\avgrsstx.dll.install_backup

If it won't delete in normal mode, and it's still present after running the above removal tool try deleting it in safe mode.

Re: Problem with avg 9.0

, but glad the machine is running better.

Be sure you have antivirus software installed on the machine. There are other free offerings, such as Avira and Avast, Panda Cloud and Microsoft Security Essentials. Excellent paid products available such as Eset's NOD32 and Kaspersky, among others.
