Error Loading c:\windows\system32\sodubudu.dll

My apologies if I am posting this in the wrong place.

My problems started this AM when I started getting random popups when I visited sites on Internet Explorer, even sites that do not have pop up advertising, such as Google News.

I downloaded, installed and ran Ad Aware, which found one problem. I unfortunately did not make any notes but I had ad aware delete the problem file.

When I restarted I got this pop up message:

Error Loading C:\windows\system32\sodubudu.dll The specified module could not be found.

Also at this time and ever since IE has failed to open. I get the message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." IE won't open, this window automatically pops up.

I loaded IE 8 and Firefox on a USB drive and attempted to install IE 8. It looks like it worked, but IE 8 still won't open and I get another window popping up before the previously described error message: "To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program"

Firefox is working fine, and otherwise the computer seems to be working fine. However I need to have IE working on my computer.

As for virus software I have Symantec Endpoint Protection which detected a risk of a file called y.exy and it says it "cleaned [it] by deletion" and "file deleted successfully." It detected this file this AM which is when I started having problems.

Thanks in advance for help.

Hi and welcome to TSF.

Sounds like you have an infection - please start here and follow the instructions.

NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help

Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link!

If you have problems with any of the steps, simply move on to the next one and make a note of the problem in your reply.

Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply - it may take a few days.

OK, this might sound like a stupid question, but you said not to post my logs back in this thread. I have the logs, where am I supposed to post them? In a new thread in a different topic area? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I just want to follow the rules!
