[SOLVED] ClipX.exe

Ok, I was looking for a freeware clipboard extender, hoping that it would alter the copied text in someway to allow it to be pasted directly from FireFox into MS Works Word Processor. I found one at a site: hXXp://www.bluemars.org/clipx/

My antivirus software did not detect anything malicious. I scanned it with Avast, Malware Bytes AND IObit Security 360, and all came back negative.

But,when I went to install it, Comodo firewall Defense + said it behaved suspiciously, etc... I allowed it to install, then I remembered a site called VirusTotal. I submitted the file and got these results (though it said "file already analyzed)

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/2...d1b-1256140937

Is this program safe to use? And if not, is there a safe alternative that you know of?

I've really been posting too much lately lol.

EDIT: SiteAdviser gave the download site a green rating, and said the files downloaded were green. Just wanted to add that info as well.

Re: ClipX.exe

Any time you see "the file has already been analyzed" it's a good idea to click on "Reanalyze file now".

It could be that Comodo is reacting to the apps' packer (UPX), like the two vendors at VirusTotal may be, or if it hooks low level functions (clipboard, hotkeys) and/or creates a startup entry.

Seems ok to me upon exam and install on test machine. Most of your own protection apps give it a pass. My NOD32 does also. That said, when in doubt....stay away.

As to it's function, or other apps like it, I can't help there. Maybe someone else can.

Re: ClipX.exe

Ok, thank you. And after I made this post, I saw that "Reanalyze file now" button, and I did. It yielded the same results. I uninstalled it, ran a full scan with IObit, came back clean. I opted for a program that no other programs found suspicious. It's called Ditto.

So, I think this can be closed or whatever is required here lol.
