Questions about boot sector virus.
Does formatting a drive rid its contents of viruses and malware? Does format using NTFS get rid of the bad stuff? does format using NTFS (quick option) get rid of them too? Does Master boot record get deleted too? Do the two types for formatting (full and quick formats) get rid of boot sector viruses?

Re: Questions about boot sector virus.
Doing a full format should get rid of all information, both good and bad. Make sure that have backed up everything you need. Back your documents as they will be lost.

Re: Questions about boot sector virus.
If you want to be sure you can even add a "FDISK /MBR" after the formatting process.
Anyway I think that formatting AND reinstalling OS should automatically get rid of mbr viruses (as OS installation rewrites MBR). Bye |
