[SOLVED] Problems with Kaspersky Update
Hi. I have XP SP3 and used Kaspersky 2009 along with free Comodo firewall and Malwarebytes for 1 year. It was the most problem-free year I experienced using a computer. When my KAV license expired, I purchased KAV 2010. The first problem I had was that I did not remove Comodo first. I then uninstalled through control panel and revo, but it was still showing up when I tried to install Kaspersky. Finally, Kaspersky Tech tech support sent me a skip product check tool which enabled me to install KAV 2010. Then I discovered that it would not update. I then found registry traces of Comodo and deleted them. Comodo was still showing up on attempts to install KAV w/out the skip product check tool. I still could not receive updates from Kaspersky. One week ago, after not getting a solution from tech support, I went on the Kaspersky forum. After multiple trials of uninstalling/reinstalling and sending an avz log to the very helpful mod, I was told there was no malware involvement and to contact tech support. I like the AV, but their tech support is not to my liking (autoresponders telling me to do what I have already done.) I am ready to give up, but I would like to know if there is any other reason why I might be encountering these difficulties.
Even though I liked the Comodo firewall, I want nothing on my computer that leaves traces that cannot be removed after literally hours of combing through registry keys. On the other hand, it might be that the so-called clean installs of KAV that I was directed to do were not so clean at all and there is something deep down in my computer that says I still have comodo traces when I do not. I also don't know if this is the source of my update problems, but except for about 16 -20hours (in the past two weeks) I received a module not authenticated message when trying to update. Those six hours on Monday and Tuesday it actually began updating, but timed out at 0%. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

Re: [SOLVED] Problems with Kaspersky Update
The way it was "solved" was by my uninstalling KAV 2010 and reinstalling KAV 2009. It was not really solved, I suppose. I have not tried to reinstall KAV 2010. I was told by tech support after my fourth or fifth call that using the previous version would be the best solution. I wasn't completely happy with this, but I got tired of trying to find real solutions.
