free or paid?
right now im using avg on this computer because my spyweeper is being a pice of crap and would not pick anything up. is it better to buy protection or to use the free anti virus? and which paid one is good?

I think free antivirus these days are just fine, but one reason you may want to go paid is for the customer support and all that good stuff. If you haven't yet, you may also want to check out the sticky thread:

There is a new free antivirus called Panda Cloud that is getting some very good reviews. I've been using Avira and AVG (not both at the same time, of course) for a few years, and am thinking of switching to Panda as it looks so light on resources, easy to use and effective.
If you want to go for a subscription/paid antivirus, NOD32 is one of the best and comes highly recommended. Personally, I don't see any advantage in paying when the free ones are so good.
