Re: anti virus combos
Hi Aaron212,
I've pasted a copy of a doc I keep of basic security here. Hope it's of use. Please let me know if you require any further info :- AV (only one AV should be used) :- Purchased Examples : Kaspersky, NOD32, McAfee Free Examples : Avira, AVG or Avast (note, most of the free ones have 'paid' versions too) Firewall : such as Comodo (note, a firewall usually comes with the 'purchased' security suites) Hosts File : MVPS SpywareBlaster : stop it from installing in the first place (sits in registry) SpywareGuard : stop it before it can execute (not tested on Vista, yet) Snoopfree : keylogger warning (XP only) Website Adviser : WOT or McAfee Site Advisor Spyware Scanner : MBAM (note, the free version is on-demand only, not real time) Also :- Windows Updates : keep them up to date ATF Cleaner : cleans cookies and temporary files Secunia : online scanner to determine apps which require to be upgraded ERUNT : automatic registry backup NTREGOPT : compact and optimise your registry Please read the 'pc safety and security - what do I need' sticky for full info. I would suggest the bare minimum is the AV, Firewall (if you don't have a purchased AV), Hosts File and SpywareBlaster. And, of course, using the automatic updates for Windows. Remember to run your AV and Spyware scanners regularly, and also update SpywareBlaster and the MVPS Hosts File regularly. Cheers. Rob. |

Re: anti virus combos
Hello Aaron212,
I use: NOD32 Anti-Virus(free trial in my signature) Spybot Search and Destroy - Anti Spyware Malwarebytes - Additional Virus Scanner I think it is a great combo, and you can get Spybot and Malwarebytes for free, and nod32 free for 30-60days.
