Free Ad-Aware -- No Longer Reliable?
I have experienced endless problems attempting to download definition updates for the past few months. Sometimes after you download you think it worked only to find out it didn't download at all. The last time I attempted the update the software indicated I hadn't had a new update in a month! I thought I updated practically every other day!!?? Also if you attempt to download the free anniversary edition from free Ad-Aware 2008 it goes to the download dot com site but if you attempt to download from the Lavasoft dot com site it will try to get you to pay for a pro anniversary edition. Well, that's a lot of humbug!! I'm darn fed up with Lavasoft.
I can't use the pay versions because they wouldn't work with my Norton anti-virus software. Anyone out there please advise on a good substitute for the free Ad-Aware version. I don't mind buying software but it must be compatible with me using Norton and Spy Sweeper.

Re: Free Ad-Aware -- No Longer Reliable?
Yeah, i got rid of Adaware for similar issues. Replaced it with Malwarebytes first, eventually got rid of that as it would freeze during scanning. Then went to SuperAntispyware and have since then been happily using it.
