Hi, I used to have norton 360 version 2 which did mess up my registry and i had to resintall windows fresh. I am not the best richest person since i am getting paid less and less day by day so i can not actually afford to buy a computer which shall cost 600 for fitting my needs..I went to get straight with my specs :
64 MB ati raedon xpress 200 video card
AMD semptron 1.80 GHz proccesor
2 GB DDR ram
500 7200 RPM hard drive
Windows XP Pro. x32

I bascilly surf the web on this computer, chat, watch some videos online and play a game (called wolfenstein enemy territory, i really old game but yet fun) and ya thats it. Can you guys recommend me something? I mean i want something that will not bother my 10 year old brother when he plays miniclips like that avg thing does..i want something silant or something that will not bug me with 50 pop ups + slow my computer down to a crawl like norton 360 version 2 did..

P.S. - The software can be charged..i can waste couple of 40 dollars on it..or as always be free :)

Hi there I am very new to this forums..i made a older post but got less answers and i tried some of the answers but no good results! so here is my new story.. i am on a VERY tight budget. My computer was running insane and i then reinstalled windows (a good friend of mine gave me the windows xp pro. cd and i used my key i had on my tower) and then reinstalled it. I first thought of installing norton just try it but then rembering the $200 tech support i was thinking HECK NO!. I only get paid $6.00 and also work only for 4 hours a day and rest of the day am in collage so things are packed up. I am in a week vacation so i want to just set my computer so it can do the basics like befor and run all my programs as i did in the past. I basiclly want a internet security suite, or maybe something seperete. I really do not care if its free or not i just want it do the job done and basiclly end this crisis i did (the software can cost 90 dollars i will not care i am tired of fixing this computer now) so ya that is pretty much it. If it is something seperete can you tell me another good program that goes along with the other so i can run smoothley?

P.S. - Computer specs :
-AMD Semptron(tm) Processor 3200+ 1.80 GHz ---(PLEASE do not tell me to buy more better Processor because like i said i am poor.)
-1.93 GB of RAM
-80 GB hard drive and another 320 GB hard drive
-Windows XP Pro. SP3
-I also use a router too.

-Again, If this software will cost some $$ i will buy it because you do not want to know all of the data i lost..but luckilly my friends were a pal and helped me backup some important files which now i have to reinstall and i am probally been trying to find something good for over 4 weeks now and finally some spare time this is perfect for fixing it now..so i beg PLEASE!!
