AVG problems?

Here is a point of interest that may spark some debate. Until yesterday, I was having problems updating AVG and Hotmail Live was not loading, (internet explorer cannot dispaly page). I uninstalled AVG and installed avast. What a difference, hotmail loads real fast and there are no problems udating Avast as there were with hotmail. Could there be any significance in this?

The significance is that now it works, where before it didn't
