[SOLVED] Recommendations for Security Software
So i got an old laptop that i want to use, but i don't have any security software on it and i'm not sure what i should put on it. I know about the recommended ones in the sticky thread but I'm sure those will take up to much resources. The system resources are very limited so I'm looking for an AV and firewall that don't require much of anything in terms of resources.
System Specs: Intel Pentium II 168 MB RAM 6 GB Hard Drive Windows 2K Pro Also, i would prefer that it would be free if possible. I welcome any suggestions.

Re: [SOLVED] Recommendations for Security Software
I've never tried it, but have you looked into Clamwin ?
http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/71/1/ I've also found that Avira doesn't require much in the way of resources, I have it on an AMD K6 500mHz, with 256MB RAM but even that is higher spec'd than the machine you're inquiring about.

Re: [SOLVED] Recommendations for Security Software
I actually have used it for a flash drive with Portable Apps. I didn't know that it came as a standard AV. I'll have to try it out.
Do you know of a firewall that uses low amounts or resources?

Re: [SOLVED] Recommendations for Security Software
Not offhand. I rely on my hardware firewall of the router, and Windows'.

Re: [SOLVED] Recommendations for Security Software
Yeah i couldn't find anything that would work either. I guess i probably won't end up using this computer for internet, it is slow anyways.

Re: [SOLVED] Recommendations for Security Software
The one which you might try out of curiosity is an older version of Tiny Personal
http://www.oldversion.com/Tiny-Personal-Firewall.html Tiny has since been bought out by Computer Associates (CA)
