General Tools to Restore/Reset Permisions ?
Regarding this thread:
Aftermath of a virus hidden folders and admin tools OP had malware infection which was removed here. After clean-out, she cannot see many files & folders (such as "My Photos"). Ran Dial-a-Fix "Restore Permissions" tool, as well as another script called FixPolicies by MMVP Bill Castner, which was designed to overcome some of Dial-a-Fix's shortcomings in this area. OP still has problems viewing some Files & Folders. She has taken Ownership, and has Full Control over, has deleted other accoutns that may have contradictory Special Permissions, and has replaced both the owership rights & file permissions of the "child objects". Since hiding files & folders is a common malware effect, and that these permissions ought to have a default, it seems to me that "Security people" ought to know about a general, fix-all tool, if there is one available. Is there ?
