If you cant get networking to work again... try this!
Just registered here because in the two months ive been doing repairs for a profit this forum has helped me alot.
so here goes my first post: I was having some terrible trouble with a computer that i had removed antivirus xp from. Although i had removed the spyware by scanning with superantispyware on another computer, then malwarebytes on the actual machine, i couldnt get the networking to work even after running lisp fix and the other winsock tool that completely resets winsock. in frustration after running smitfraudfix and the like i ran the norton uninstall tool which took a good 15 minutes but i could NOT belive my eyes when after the computer restarted the networking was 100% back. norton is a virus to me. so many machines have it and it never ever seems to work correctly. so if you dont have it, get the norton removal tool run it even if you dont think you have the app installed because you may have remnants. seems that it worked for me. -steven Last edited by chauffeur2; 03-08-2009 at 12:08 AM. |

Hi vegassteven, Welcome to TSF!
![]() That is a very handy tip you posted. Norton® (Symantec) Products are notorious for being resource hogs, as well as being very difficult to remove from a computer without their own Removal Tool. Well Done! Kind Regards, P.S: I took the liberty of 'cleaning' up the URL link for you, as it was not copy/pasteable.

Nice tip !
NRT fixes internet. I run NRT on all my machines before sending them home. S.O.P. Tool is so handy, I should put it in my sig ! Oh hay, there it is already ! Too bad I only get 1000 characters, I could include the McAfee and AVG removal tools also.
