A few questions about malware
I'm waiting for help with virus removal at the moment as my computer says I have a Trojan something or other. I have a few questions about what that is exactly (because my alerts are telling me someone can see everything I type and screen shots of my PC) and what I should do to protect myself since I found the virus on my computer.
I haven't entered any important passwords since or my name and address since I found the virus on my computer. I was watching Heroes online (not downloading anything) then I clicked a link to stream a video then my internet crashed and PC rebooted, I found my firewall down and now my PC is telling me I have a virus. I didn't even know you could get them like that, can you get them like that? Or has it been there a while and is only causing problems now? So I'd like to know what I can do to protect myself until this problem is fixed. Can they still get my details even if I haven't provided them with the infomation since I found the virus on my computer, or could they look up my browsing history and get all my details? I hope I don't sound too nieve but I know very little about this and I'm really worried so I'm just after some sound advice really. Many thanks. |

Re: A few questions about malware
Hi
To make sure you have no screen captures or keyloggers try this free tool that looks old and ugly but is safe, current, and very efficient. It will pop up any time it notices these things. You can allow or disallow the program in question doing this capturing to continue its operation. However just a note: many common programs and laptop function keys use keyloggers in a good way. Just make sure the program is good. http://www.snoopfree.com/default.htm Also you might have read this but if not this will give you the nest advice. PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need? Hope this helps! Take care wolski888 btw its naive just so you know |

Re: A few questions about malware
If you are waiting for help to remove an infection, then I would suggest using the PC as little as possible. Best not to install or uninstall anything until an analyst has provided a fix or instructs you to do otherwise. They will provide a list of suggested protection programmes once your system is clean.
