Slow PC
Hi
Lately my PC is sluggish. I have done a thorough clean up and it's still slow. I use XP SP3, have 1.5gb memory. Also my AV program McAfee keeps popping up now and again warning me that it has blocked a Buffer Overflow??? What's that then?? Thanks Di |

Re: Slow PC
Hi
A Buffer Overflow is to do with programmes using more memory than they have been allocated - this can cause crashes and can be exploited by hackers. Difficult to say what McAfee is blocking without more information. You might also want to have a look here Is your PC running slow...?

Re: Slow PC
One possibility is an infection of some kind. Any other symptoms other than just a slow PC?
If you think you may be infected then please start here and follow the instructions. NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link! If you have problems with any of the steps, simply move on to the next one and make a note of the problem in your reply. Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply - it may take a few days.
