Hi, my friend installed Cleanpage software on my computer. I like its features, But it looks like a "TOOL BUTTON" on my Internet Explorer, plus I never heard of the company named Readonweb. Is this software safe to use? Anyone had experience? Should I remove it?

Re: Is Cleanpage software safe to use?
Hi, welcome to TSF
There's not much online information about Readonweb or Cleanpage, but the few reviews I found say it's a useful program, no mention of spyware or any other problems. I downloaded and scanned the program from http://www.readonweb.com/cleanpage.htm. No malware detected.

Re: Is Cleanpage software safe to use?
Thank you for the help. I started to use this software and love it! CleanPage is amazing: It removes all the useless clutters on webpages! So far no problem found.
I never installed tool buttons on my IE before, but heard that they can monitor my web activities. I wanted to make sure that it won't steal my financial information for my online purchases. Did your scanning of CleanPage software already address this concern? |

Re: Is Cleanpage software safe to use?
I scanned for viruses, trojans, spyware etc using Avira, a-squared, Ad-Aware, MalwareBytes and SpyBot. If there was anything suspicious in the package, at least one of those programs would have caught it.
If you're still using IE, you might want to swap over to the more secure Firefox, at least for your financial and purchasing websites. There are some IE toolbars that are considered malware, but this button seems to be safe. You could contact Readonweb's support asking for more details about how their software works, and check out their privacy policy.

Re: Is Cleanpage software safe to use?
Thank you for the explanation. I feel much more comfortable using Cleanpage now.

I would trust you TSF guys much more than any vendor's support. :):) I did find something on Readonweb's website about privacy: --------- Readonweb takes privacy issues very seriously: 1. CleanPage does NOT track web surfing. 2. CleanPage does NOT collect any information on your computer. 3. CleanPage does NOT automatically send user's private or personal information to any website. 4. CleanPage does NOT automatically download any information from any website. 5. CleanPage does NOT save passwords onto local hard drives. --------- |

Re: Is Cleanpage software safe to use?
I've been using CleanPage software heavily in the past two weeks and wanted to share my experience. So far I didn't find any negative impact or activities on my PC. I had never before used any other ads remover software, so there is no comparison. I read lots of business and economic news online, and CleanPage does remove all advertisements and other useless junks on the webpages. This is unbelievable!
According to Readonweb tech support, "The CleanPage button just sits and waits on the Internet Explorer for you to click. Only after you click the button, CleanPage then starts its processing to extract the main content out of the cluttered webpage." |

Re: Is Cleanpage software safe to use?
I found out that this software was listed on Internet Explorer's Add-ons Gallery:
