Whats the best all round free anti-virus/trojan and spyware program?

Hi All,

Does anybody know of a program that covers viruses, trojan and spyware with out any limitations. Currently I'm using the free version of AVG just wondering if there is one that covers all (internet, downloads etc)

Thanks
Gary

Gary,
I don't know which is better (not having used AVG, myself), but I use AVAST and it has been working great for me. Check is out, if you wish. www.avast.com

Click the Purchase button, scroll down to the FREE home registration. Follow instructions from there.

Also, download the free Virus Cleaner on that site (once installed, it updates daily).

Good luck.

Look here for reviews on some security products. I prefer to have different specialized products to take care of different kinds of threats and also because products oriented towards one threat I can get for free while these suites cost money. If you search around, I am sure you can get to some site that compares all-in-one suites.

Avira is my current favorite. Few reasons are it resource efficient, more so than others and it has root kit detection, most other free software doesn't offer that until you pay for the upgrade.

Use this website and according to their results, AVIRA!!
I use McAfee unfortunately (long story).
AVIRA is free for home use.
Good luck.

Re: Whats the best all round free anti-virus/trojan and spyware program?

Heh... I'm having the same problem as well. My Norton 360 subscription ended not long ago and I need a free anti-virus program until I either decide to go with Norton, or something else. The first thing I did was download AVG, but now I don't know what program to use. I guess I'll try Avira next (since I heard so much praise from others).
