Re: please tell me i am using mccafee

Unfortunately McAfee is one of the biggest memory/resource hogs when it comes to AV software. It's not uncommon to notice a decrease in performance when McAfee is running.

Otherwise, you've got an infection that McAfee isn't picking up, most like adware/spyware/malware. Try installing Superantispyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/prerelease.html) and see if it picks up anything that could be eating up your system resources.

Re: please tell me i am using mccafee

Hi
Orange Tie's first suggestion is probably right.
McAfee slows down my Sony VAIO laptop considerably.
I am considering Kaspersky actually.
You could get more RAM but I think a new AV software would be simpler.
Also I've never heard of the superantispyware. You have to pay for it.
Try Spybot at http://www.spybot.com/en/spybotsd/index.html which is for free and friendly.
It's very good and I recommend you to read PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need?.

Hope this helped. Happy New Year!!!

Re: please tell me i am using mccafee

Be very careful which sites you download security software from. There are some fake sites that use a similar name to the genuine software to trick people into downloading infected files.

The official site for SpyBot Search & Destroy (FREEWARE, always has been , always will be): http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Scroll down and click the blue Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.0 link to download.

As for McAfee, this is an antivirus program, not antispyware. If you remove McAfee, which I recommend to reduce system lag, then you'll have to replace it with another antivirus. See wolski888's second link for advice on which antivirus to use instead of McAfee.
