Power on password

My compaq armada 1750 has a feature that you can set a password to protect when you power on. 2 years ago I set a password and I have forgotten it. I have tried all the ones I could have possibly used but no chance. How can I reset or eliminate that option so I can use the computer. I need to clean it up before I give it to one of my students.
