Need help setting up firewall, Virus programs
I'm helping a friend setup his security on his laptop (dell xps m1330). he has no interest in buying norton, mcafee etc. just wants the free stuff.
I have norton 360 and once i figured out how to stop it blocking programs it worked fine and does the job. I was wondering about what to setup for the firewall, malware, virus and anything else i run into. I have seen Windows defender, avg, adware 2008 which are all free but need help in how i go about setting them up. ![]() Can someone please help or if there is better programs out there let me know. Thanks

Re: Need help setting up firewall, Virus programs
Hi
Have a look here for some suggestions PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need? Most of these apps are pretty straightforward to set up. Stand alone scanners usually require an update to download recent definitions then it's just a case of choosing the areas to scan. AVs are pretty much the same. Even firewalls can now be installed and run "out of the box". If you have specific issues then let us know - I'm sure we'll be able to help.
