Windows Firewall Was Disabled.
The other day ago. A computer in my house contracted a virus that brought up a prompt saying my computer had one. AVG quickly quarantined it. Calling it Infection / Fake Alert. Today, on my own computer. I turned it on and it said my windows firewall was disabled. Windows firewall in the only one I use. I went to the control panel and tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't let me access the windows firewall icon. My anti virus and updates were still on and working though. So I restarted my computer and my firewall was working. I was wondering if this was a windows malfunction or if a virus was trying to cause damage. I ran ad-aware and avg virus scan. Both came up clean.

Re: Windows Firewall Was Disabled.
An infection can definitely interfere with your firewall.
If you think you are infected then please follow and post in the other internet Security Forum. Also, I would recommend using the ZoneAlarm Firewall. It is dynamic and passes the leak test as shown at www.grc.com vitaeterna Last edited by vitaeterna; 11-17-2008 at 10:32 AM. |
