Re: laptop won't let me install antivirus
I was able to get Avira to install and update. I don't remember what the error report said for Avast and AVG. Neither of them installed anything, but gave me an immediate rejection with an error message. However, I now have 3 Security Center icons in my Control Panel. I know there is some major problem with my laptop, but it is working now with Avira. I would like to get to the bottom of my problems. This laptop has been unstable for over a year. I changed HD's, and reformatted it numerous times with a return to the same problems.

Re: laptop won't let me install antivirus
So how is the laptop doing right now?
I cant think of any thing that can keep causing AV software to fail installation if you have tried different HDDs . Try going to the HP website and doing a search on your model see if there are any recommended updates that your laptop lacks. Good luck. |

Re: laptop won't let me install antivirus
HP updates. Good Idea!! It was after an HP update that this issue occurred. It gives me a place to start. I'll check again on further updates that might be needed with the ones I've already installed.
