first thing to do after installing windows
Hi,
what are the first things you should do after installing windows? i just reinstalled windows again in my computer because as soon as i connected to the internet i got attacks that avg detected. but i still got screwed, becuase avg wanst updated. is it possible that my flash drive was infected ? becuase i had avg in there and my backup files. thnkas in advance and sorry if someone has already posted something similar. |

what type of attacks? It should give more information. also which avg - antivirus or antispyware?
some programs preinstalled by the manufacturer or possibly some programs you installed after reinstalling windows could have something in it that would alert your protection. usually its just adware - nothing major Usually the first things I do after an install is to 1. updated the os with microsoft 2. update with the manufacturer 3. get rid of all junk programs thats installed by the manufacturer 4. install and update all third party programs 5. usually one of the last things I do is to install the antivirus/spyware since it can conflict with other installs. Until this point, windows firewall will do. as far as already getting infected by backup files, there is always that possibility. Why did you reinstall to begin with?
