windows security alerts and defender wont update

hi please someone help me before i smashup my pc bit of a novice when it comes to pcs yesteday recieved a pop up balloon on my toolbar saying windows security alerts when i click on it it says automatic updates switched off when i try to turn them on it will not let me i have tried going through run and doing it that way i get error 0x80070422 tried lookin gtht up in the microsoft site and ding what they say and it still does not work also if i try to update in windows defender it will not let me and it gives me error 1058?

been getting pop ups as well even though i have blocked them also windows wont let me update and it tells me to go back and try the run trick again any ideasanyone sorry if im a bit vague but please ask me questions and i will try and answer them

It sounds like your computer could be infected.
Have you scanned your computer for malware?

As grumpygit suggested, the system may be infected.

Please read this sticky: If you think your computer is infected....

Be sure to reach Step 5. If you cannot complete any of the 5 steps for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed, and post your logs in The HJT Help Forum, not here; where an Analyst will assist you. However, it is very important to make mention of any of the steps that you were not able to complete.

After you’ve posted your logs, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are very busy.
