Spyware Doctor Quarantine Recovery

Hi,

I am new in this forum and I am really hoping that somebody here could help me with my problem.

I am using Windows Vista Basic with SP1 and also installed Spyware Doctor ver 6.0.0.362 via Google Pack.

My files, mostly Microsoft Word and Excel, are currently in the Quarantine section of Spyware Doctor after I chose to fix the threats it prompted me after scanning my computer.

I tried recovering my files from the Recovery button it has but to no avail. No recovery ever materializes. My files are still stuck in the Quarantine section of Spyware Doctor.

Please help me recover my files, I badly need all of them. I hope somebody here could assist me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome to TSF.
I have looked on the spyware doctor forum and it seems you are not alone.
http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthr...ore+quarantine

They are saying that although the restore failed message is shown, the restore will go ahead. But because of the quantity and size of the files you may have to leave it running with the error message displayed for a few hours.
Also, make sure the folder you are trying to restore the files to is not hidden or protected.

Re: Spyware Doctor Quarantine Recovery

Hi Grumpygit,

Thank you for your referral. I also joined the forum you posted here and currently working with one of the member. Up to now I still haven't recovered my files yet.

What you suggested here were also the recommendations I am getting so far with some added instructions.

Sincerely appreciate your assistance. If you came across other solution that could help me with my problem please do inform me about it.

Many thanks, knight4023.

Re: Spyware Doctor Quarantine Recovery

MS Offices applications have an option to auto-backup the documents you're working on at set intervals. Check your Word and Excel backup folders. Or you could restore the files from the manual backups you made.

Re: Spyware Doctor Quarantine Recovery

Hi Koala,

Thanks for the feedback. Do you mind if I ask you where exactly the backup resides? Where can I find it?

Thanks

Re: Spyware Doctor Quarantine Recovery

I don't have MS Office installed at the moment, but if you look in the options it will give you the default folder for backups and the option to change this folder.

If you didn't have auto-backups enabled, then they will be wherever you normally save your backups manually.

Re: Spyware Doctor Quarantine Recovery

I think ms office saves the backups to the same folder as the docs unless changed.
