failed installation AVG free

My friend had his computer cleaned because of suspected viruses. Then we downloaded AVG 8.0 free. After downloading we chose "run" then "standard installation". After a few seconds we got error 0x80070002, failed to install. Should we have chosen custom installation? Any advice?

Re: failed installation AVG free

Hi and welcome to TSF.
From what i have read on the freeAVG forum, this is normally caused by another security programme stopping the instalation or the computer is still infected.

Is there any other security software running on the machine?
Have you removed any security software?
Have you tried an online scan to check to make sure the machine is clean? (link below)
