Help needed please - desktop blank

Hello thanks for reading - pc novice - started pc today - desktop blank apart from blue bubble background - no toolbars/icons/cant access start toolbar at bottom - have ran all my security progs. - still no success.

Can access some of my files thro cont/alt/del to get windows task manager.

Help needed - dont know what i should try/do next - any help would be very much appreciated - op. system is windows xp.

I have read some other posts but I can't access my start toolbar so very limited as to what I can do - please help.

If you think you are infected then please start here and follow the instructions.

Please ensure that you complete all of the 5 Steps. If you cannot complete any of the Steps, simply move on to the next one - remember to let the Analyst know about this when you post your logs.

Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link!

Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply - it may take a few days.

Thanks for replying - but unable to get start button or control panel - makes every thing impossible - unless someone can help.
