On and Offline Hacking

I was hacked 3 times. I switched services and was hacked a second time. I then got rid of all internet and was hacked again. It was by a guy I almost dated so he was determined to stay on my computer.

I have moved and have not turned my computer back on but fear that when I get a new computer he will be able to somehow hack into it as well.

He manipulated my jukebox...changing the size/view a few times a week. he set it so that whenever i added more than one song a song that was to be about him was added each time. He then changed the song so I knew that he was till on my computr altho i was no longer online. he seems to be able to hack into random computers that i use...in public places like Kinkos.

he copied and deleted pictures from my hard drive. he caused the look of black ink spots to appear on my photos on my web site but from outside of my computer they were fine. He stopped my cd burner from burning.

He claims that no firewall will prevent him from doin this stuff again once i have another computer. I had norton's latest security pack at the time but he still got around it and i even upgraded to windows service pack 2 but he still had access to my computer. Not even sure if he is not accessing this computer now. i am at a public space but he follows me.

He saw all of my personal writings and just completely invaded my privacy. Are you able to help me?

Re: On and Offline Hacking

welcome to TSF
you're in the right place, but first you have to make up your mind how badly you want to slam the door in his face. if he's crippled your computer with nasties that are severe enough you may need to reformat. that means wiping the hard drive clean and starting anew. it depends how bad you're infected. there are ways to find out how bad you're infected. i'll get to that.
there are stickys in red at the top of each page in the security center. read them. they are written by experts, who know more than this guy. they're for your benefit.
there's a couple in particular that are important to you.

PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need?

http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html

i suggest to you to learn the ins and outs of scanning your computer. what security programmes do you have installed on your computer other than symantec?
to start out with, i recommend that you boot into safe mode and change all the settings on your symantec scanner for maximum scan. let it take a long time to do the best scan that it can. if it finds anything, quarantine what it finds. if you want more suggestions, i have more for you after that, but lets keep it one thing at a time.
hackers can be awful. they steal money out of bank accounts, infect address books so your friends think you infected them and infects their friends address books, use your computer to send spam or porn, or do the kind of things that guy is doing to you. that's why it's so important to keep your computer clean. it's not just about having a fast computer.
i'll be keeping an eye on this thread. we both want to get rid of that guy.
